 ENGLISH CHRONICLE

One of the tests we have done in my English class is a chronicle of a character that is important to me and I chose the best and most visionary film director in the world

Mr.  Steven Spielbert.

I invite you to see my evidence

Steven Allan Spielberg

(Cincinnati, Ohio; December 18, 1946) is an American film director, screenwriter and producer.1 He is considered one of the pioneers of the New Hollywood era and is also one of the most recognized directors and popular in the global film industry.2

In his films, he has dealt with very diverse themes and genres. His early science fiction and adventure films, such as Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), the Indiana Jones franchise, and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), are considered archetypes of modern Hollywood escape cinema. In later years he began to address humanist themes such as the Holocaust, the Atlantic slave trade, civil and political rights, war and terrorism in films such as The Color Purple (1985), Empire of the Sun (1987), The List of Schindler (1993), Amistad (1997), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Munich (2005), War Horse (2011), Lincoln (2012) or Bridge of Spies (2015).

Nominated seven times for the Oscars in the best director category, he won the award twice, with Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan. Three of his films (Jaws, E.T., the Extra-Terrestrial and Jurassic Park) managed to be the highest-grossing films at the time and became true mass phenomena. He has also been awarded the Order of the British Empire and the National Humanities Medal. Comic fan, has a large collection.

He is known as "The King Midas of Hollywood." According to Forbes magazine, his net worth amounts to 3.7 billion US dollars.

The profits from his films worldwide, without adjusting prices for inflation, exceed ten billion dollars, making him the highest-grossing film director in history. From his long association with composer John Williams have emerged some of the most iconic soundtracks in film history.

In 1975 he directed “Jaws,” a film that caused paranoia in his country of origin, the United States. The impact of the story was such that people stopped going to the beaches for fear of a shark attack. While “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” shows visitors from another planet and continued that theme in the no less successful “E.T. The Extraterrestrial”, and “E.T. “phone home” became a memorable phrase.

Something was clear with the young film director, he was a kid, his stories had soul, heart and were fun.

“Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” presents us with a very ethical teacher who is not afraid of adventure, he is only afraid of snakes. The dinosaurs returned from extinction to the approval of children and adults, and “Jurassic Park” becomes another great success for Spielberg.

“The Color Purple” shows us a story with protagonists who suffered from racism, sometimes the violence was in their own home, but it was with “Schindler's List”, from 1993, in which the public and specialized critics would say the same, they would have the same opinion: “Steven Spielberg is a genius!” This film would win him many awards including several Oscars.

The filmography of this American film director is extensive and unfailingly recommended for those who like movies.

“The Fabelmans” is Steven's most recent film, perhaps the most personal of all, with a duration of 2 and a half hours, and is classified as a drama.

In 2001, he released A.I. Artificial intelligence, questioned by critics and with little box office success, despite being a tribute work to Stanley Kubrick. The following year, he directed Catch Me If You Can, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, and Minority Report. In 2004, he worked with Hanks again on The Terminal.

Munich (2005), which narrates the Palestinian terrorist attack at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games (known as the Munich Massacre), was poorly received by audiences and critics and questioned by both Jews, who blacklisted it, and by pro-Palestinians. Spielberg defended himself by saying: "If necessary, I would be willing to die, both for the United States and for Israel."23 That same year, The War of the Worlds was released, which for many follows Orson Welles' version, but for defenders of the original version, is inferior. Lucas convinced him to return with the fourth installment of Indiana Jones. Quite questioned before its release, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) did not receive such bad reviews.

“All of us are a different person every year, I don't think we will remain the same person our entire lives,” Steven Spielberg.
